Course 3: Data and Device Management
Everything in Losant begins with a device. Course Three includes the first workshop where you can practice and use most of the functionality discussed in the course.
Chapter 1: Devices and Data Sources
What are devices? What types of devices can I connect to Losant? How does the data get to Losant? These are some of the questions that will be answered in this chapter.
Chapter 2: Device Simulator
You don’t need physical hardware to use Losant. To make it easier to use the platform or even test different scenarios, we created the Device Simulator. In this chapter, we are going to walk through the simulator and cover its use cases.
Chapter 3: Data Explorer
In this chapter, we are going to learn more about the Data Explorer. Because your device sends data to Losant, we want to provide you with a way to dig into your data and quickly gain insights.
Chapter 4: Data Archiving
Losant keeps data around for a fixed period of time. There are many reasons why you would need to retain data for long-term usage, like analytics or machine learning. In this chapter, we are going to cover some of the ways you can archive your data on the Losant platform.
Chapter 5: Outro
You are all done with Course 3. Next up, you have your first workshop.
Workshop
The Data and Device Management Workshop is the first workshop of Losant University. Along with the videos, we wanted to give you real, step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish and use most of the tools we covered in the videos. So, from here on out, you can expect every course to have a workshop.
The workshops build upon one another. So, as you create devices, workflows, etc. in the workshops, make sure to keep those around as they may come up again in the future.
This workshop is all about Data and Device Management. We are going to use the platform features talked about in Course 3, such as creating a device, the Device Simulator, and the Data Explorer.
